After Hours Drop Box (Austin)

The after-hours drop box is available to receive pleadings and documents for all District Court cases that are in compliance with the federal and local rules, and which are normally filed only in the Austin Division. Cash may not be deposited in the after-hours drop box.

All matters deposited into the box by 7:59 a.m. shall be deemed as filed by midnight of the previous work day. The after hours drop box will be available for use 24 hours a day on weekends and holidays and between the hours of 5:01 p.m. and 7:59 a.m. on regular work days. The drop box will not be available for use during the regular business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on week days. There may be occasions when the U.S. Courthouse must close during normal work hours. During such times, the after-hours drop box will be activated to receive pleadings and documents.

AcAccess to the drop box will be through the use of an electronic key card which will be issued to licensed attorneys admitted to practice in the Western District of Texas upon completion of the registration form.

You must pick up the key card from the Clerk's Office in Austin during normal business hours. Cards will not be mailed to you. Questions concerning use of the drop box or obtaining a key card should be directed to the Austin Clerk's Office at (512) 916-5896, extension 0.
